DUAL DEPTH TOOK KIT - March 2019

Pools come in a variety of depths, shapes & sizes.   Often pools are constructed in a slope from 3 feet on one end to 6 feet on the other, it may be shallow on far ends and deep in the center or vice versa!   Our participants come with a variety of depth and impact intensity preferences and we often struggle with out to accommodate everyone.   Rather than limiting our class sizes, why not maximize our teaching power and offer classes that work for both depths, deep water and shallow, simultaneously.

MUSIC MAKES THE WORLD GO ‘ROUND - March 2020

A study conducted by the Brunel University’s School of Sport and Education shared that carefully selected music (choosing music with a specific BPM) can increase a participant’s physical endurance and make the overall exercise experience more positive.   They asked thirty participants to exercise on a treadmill while listening to a selection of motivational rock and pop music.  When asked to keep in time with the beat of the music, they discovered that not only was the overall task of working out was much more enjoyable for the exercisers, but that they also enhanced their endurance within their workout by 15%.  (side note: they had them listen to Queen, Red Hot Chili Peppers & Madonna, no surprise they enjoyed their workouts more!) The study also discovered that when asked to work out at very high intensities, the exercisers felt positive even when nearing physical exhaustion.

HIGHLIGHTS OF NEW AEA WORKSHOPS - January 2019

Continuing education is one of the most valuable and important components of being a fitness instructor.   What’s so incredible about the fitness industry is that is it always changing and evolving.   One of the best ways that we (fitness instructors) can be confident we are delivering safe, effective and fun class programs, is by ensuring we are always up to speed with what is happening in the industry.  Not only in terms of guidelines, new research and information, but also that we simply stay motivated and excited to share our content with our participants each day. There are many fabulous ways to obtain our continuing education, however one of my favorites is in the live CEC AEA Workshops.  There is little I find more inspiring then attending a live workshop from an industry professional delivering exciting content about the Aqua Fitness industry.   I always walk out extremely motivated to teach ALL the things on Monday morning!
